Positive Action Family Workshops
6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. - 7 class series on Tuesdays
Sponsored by Safe Streets, classes located at Topeka Bible Church, 1101 SW Mulvane Street, Topeka, Kansas - Registratioon $25 a family, refunded on completion of 7-week course.
This program is open to all families in Shawnee County. Parents: Is parenting harder than you thought? Are you having problems juggling jobs, activities and time for your kids? Kids: Are your parents listening to you? Do you feel you're an important part of the family? The workshop will provide skills for families to achieve success and happiness. Young Citizens Academy
(youth in 7th and 8th grades)
The Young Citizens Academy strives to bring together a diverse group of 7th and 8th grade students to teach them about goal setting, achievement, citizenship, life choices, and healthy choices about drug and alcohol use. The group meets from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center at 320 South Kansas Avenue, Topeka, Kansas.

6:00 p.m. at Safe Streets Office, 2209 SW 29th Street, Topeka, Kansas. Safe Streets' objective is to “link” business leaders with current and local crime trends as well as the information, resources and tools needed to deter criminal activity and help protect customers and employees.

Teen Party Reality Play and Town Hall Discussion (Free and Open to the Public) at Washburn University, Georgia Neese Gray Theatre, 1700 SW Jewell Avenue
7:00 p.m. Teen Party Reality Play - What really goes on at teen parties today? Discover the truth at this entertaining and informative Town Hall Meeting for parents, youth, and everyone interested in the safety of today's teens.
7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Town Hall Discussion - An expert panel discusses the reality and dangers of underage drinking and answers your questions. Panelists represent: District Attorney's Office, Topeka Police Department, National Alliance on Mental Illness, New Dawn Wellness and Recovery Center, and a Student Victim's Perspective.

Citizen Patrol Training
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center, Topeka Police Department, Classroom A, 320 S Kansas Avenue, Topeka, Kansas
The training includes valuable information on the latest crime trends and crime prevention techniques, as well as the goals and methods of conducting a citizen patrol. Citizen Patrol is not citizens apprehending criminals. Instead the program seeks to educate the public on what types of activity they should note as suspicious and report to law enforcement. Citizen Patrol is an extension of Neighborhood Watch group effots to mobilize neighborhoods in reducing crime.
